Qualification elaboration or creation is the most commonplace inaccuracy in the employment market. From HSC's to MBA's the story is the same. You only have to go to sites such as www.fakedegrees.com to see how easy this potentially is.

For technical roles, qualification verification should be an unquestioned essential component of the recruitment process.

As a fundamental character-check, ensuring claimed qualifications are valid is the quickest and cheapest tool available.

Criminal Records

There are many roles involving key factors such as handling cash or dealing directly with the public when it is highly advantageous to be made aware of a potential employee's Criminal History.

We do not live in a litigious society such as the US, where claims for "Negligent Hiring" are commonplace for employers who have not checked for any criminal history which was subsequently redemonstrated after the candidate was hired, although we are beginning to see the first instances.

This does not remove our obligation to ensure the safety and security of our employees and clients is protected.

Reference Check can access Australian Federal Police databases and /or privately operated databases to ascertain any Criminal convictions from the previous ten years.

The private databases contain a large number of records of criminals convicted by Australian courts and a smaller number of records from other courts around the world.

We stress that we do not claim the databases to be 100% complete. However, they are updated on a daily basis.

Exit Interviews

Reference Check utilises a team of HR professionals to conduct a range of pre-employment checks for our clients. In some instances we have been able to offer this HR expertise to clients to conduct impartial exit interviews with departing employees.

This can prove to be an extremely cost-effective method of obtaining open feedback about the culture and environment of a workplace.

Our impartiality results in greater honesty from departing employees who are often not keen to pass on negative feedback to people who are likely to be their own referees in the weeks to come.
